| Stamp Set | On the 9th of August 1970 HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said announced the new name of the country as the Sultanate of Oman. On the 16th January 1971 the second definitive set was re-issued with the old name “Muscat & Oman” overprinted with the new name “Sultanate of Oman”. A number of varieties in the form of incomplete overprints exists. |
